For Halloween, Thanksgiving or Christmas, we all love having a delicious creamy pumpkin pie for dessert. But it doesn’t have to be only a holiday treat. Pumpkin pies are good to eat all year round. I remember grandma’s old-fashion pumpkin pie, how she slowly baked it. I adored the sweet smell of the pie slowly baking in the oven. One slice was never enough because it tasted so good.

But times have changed, and although delicious, traditional pumpkin pie recipes take time. And nowadays who has time to bake a pumpkin pie from scratch the old way. Nobody, I believe, life is too fast and we are always catching up with time. So for you busy fathers, overworked mothers, here is my recipe to make the best, the sweetest pumpkin pie the quick way.

This recipe is for 8 servings. In less than an hour and a half you will be able to serve your family and guests the best non-traditional pumpkin pie ever. I know it because I have baked it myself. It is fast, easy and succulent.

For the best tour of the great pyramids at Giza, hire your own taxi and buy your own ticket. If you want a guide, book through your hotel.

When you see the Giza Great pyramids for the first time your first thought should be that one has not lived until he or she has awakened in front of the pyramids, but then your very close second thought must be how to go and visit the Giza plateau the best way. Should you book a tour or should you take your chances and go on by yourself? Asking the right questions allow a first time traveler to Egypt to visit the Giza plateau the right way and to make it a memorable experience. The truth is that no one should ever book a tour to visit the great pyramids.

How to visit the great pyramids of Giza?

Do not book a tour! Due to recent changes, tour operators are not allowed to purchase the tickets for their group anymore. So at any case if you wish to enter the pyramids at Giza you will have to go to the ticket office and purchase your own ticket. Here are a few steps to follow.

Always make sure you have enough small money on you to never ask a taxi for change as it is very difficult to do so after the ride is over.
If you are in a not “on a budget hotel” simply ask the clerk for a taxi. Make sure you ask how much it will cost you to go the great Pyramids - wherever you are in Giza the price should not be more than 30 Egyptian Pounds, 40 if the taxi has air conditioning.
If you are in a ‘on a budget hotel” or simply in the street and you want to go to the great pyramids, simply get a taxi, they are everywhere in Giza. Very often Taxi drivers will not have a meter so you must negotiate the fee upfront. The taxi driver will always ask for a price much higher than you should pay for…remember the limit is 40 pounds wherever you are on the Giza plateau.
Make sure you arrive before all the tourist buses - it means you should be at the main Giza gate around 8am.
Buy the general ticket to get onto the Giza plateau at the main gate.
Once inside, you can buy tickets to go inside the pyramids. As I learned once there, they only sell a very limited number a day. For the pyramid of Khufu the entrance tickets are limited to around 150 in the morning and 150 in the afternoon. The pyramids are never all opened for visit at the same time - one of the three major pyramids at Giza is always closed to the public for preservation, so usually only one or at most two pyramids can be entered on any day.
On the way back you will find many taxis at the outside Sphinx gate. Again make sure you bargain for a fair price - fares should be on a “last price, no tip or baksheesh” basis

Why Book a tour of the great pyramids?

It all depends on what you are looking for but whether you decide on booking or not a tour, when it comes to Giza, the rule of thumb is that if you book a tour you should not do it from home as in Egypt, travel plans are often subject to changes.

Ce livre est une orange ( découpée en 4 quartiers et 13 tranches ) qui se doit d’être consommée comme l’acte d’amour, la vie : avec délice. Il raconte un pacte avec soi-même, avec autrui. II est construit autour du nombre 14, avec son imparable logique et sa flagrance qui ne ressemblent en rien au style de l’écriture : fine, allant à l’essentiel, très visuelle, rappelant parfois Duras et Camus, mais avec une touche d’humanité bien plus colorée et plus sensuelle. Il interroge du début à la fin : l’Art, qui est-il, pourquoi, pour qui ? Sans doute conjuguer le verbe Etre dans toute sa splendeur, son dénuement, sa complexité et son but ultime : donner à vivre. Sans survivre à ses fantômes, mais de plein gré. Ce livre prend notre part d’émotions et de rêves en otage jusqu’au bout. Il nous interroge et nous emmène loin en nous même, nous rappelant que nous ne devons la vérité avant tout qu’à nous même avant de la devoir aux autres. Il interpelle l’être (lisant) dans tout ce qu’il a d’humain, de fragile, de sombre, de désespéré et de plus beau. Un livre intelligent qui donne à espérer, à croire en soi-même et, qui sait, en autrui ? Bref, un livre à mettre dans toutes les mains qui aiment lire les personnages remplis d’humanité et les phrases pleines de sens. A consommer sans modération.

Son frère Jason, un ancien musicien devenu agent à Hollywood, lui présente Art, un peintre célèbre mais bien trop commercial, qui insiste pour la peindre et pour peindre son âme… dit il.
Réticente, elle va cependant accepter et une nuit, le quatorze du mois de mai elle va poser à quatorze dollars de l’heure pendant quatorze heures – une peinture va naitre.

Une peinture magique qu’on nommera QUATORZE.

Quatorze, représente Anilou, Art et Jason, non pas comme ils sont mais comme ils auraient du etre si ils avaient suivit leur véritable destinée. Progressivement Anilou va s’ouvrir au regard du peintre comme elle s’ouvre à la vie.

De Quatorze, une relation va naitre – un pacte. Refuser le confort facile des compromis, des buts réalistes, pour atteindre la vérité absolue de leurs rêves, et ne pas finir âmes brisées à attendre la mort comme des cris silencieux qui n’auront pas vécus.
Anilou deviendra écrivain de ceux qui font trembler les dictateurs. Jason retournera à sa musique – les couples font des enfants quand il chante. Art trouvera en lui ce peintre sans compromis depuis longtemps oublié- car le don et la malédiction des peintres sont de pleurer une larme de couleur pour chaque être humain qui n’a pas pleinement vécu.
Qui respectera le pacte et qui le trahira ? Quel qu’en soit le prix !

Les personnages de Quatorze éclatent en couleurs sur les toiles de l’espoir et nous font découvrir l’importance de vivre et non pas de survivre.
